Radar Used In McCann Ground Search
Police officers involved in a new search for missing Madeleine McCann are using a ground-penetrating radar to search scrubland in Praia da Luz.
The radar equipment is capable of penetrating several metres below ground.
Experts will then study scans to look for any anomalies in the ground, which may signify the earth has been disturbed.
Police have not revealed what clue has lead them to the scrubland.
Yesterday officers began to digging out the area around a hole hat had been covered with corrugated iron for years.
Queen And Duke Of Edinburgh To Visit NI
The Queen and the Duke of Edingburgh will visit Northern Ireland for a series of public engagements from 23 to 25 June.
Although the visit was confirmed, no further details have been announced.
Northern Ireland Secretary Theresa Villiers said she was "absolutely delighted", adding: "This will be a wonderful opportunity to show Her Majesty and His Royal Highness some of the best that Northern Ireland has to offer and demonstrate the work being done to bring different parts of the community together and build a more prosperous future”.
It will be the 21st visit the Queen has made to Northern Ireland, the last being in 2012 as part of her Diamond Jubilee tour, when she and the Duke and the Prince Philip visited Enniskillen, County Fermanagh.
Nine Injured In Boat Crash Into Tower Bridge
Nine people have been injured after a sightseeing tour boat crashed into Tower Bridge with 130 people on board at about 12pm today.
The vessel, known Millennium Diamond, suffered "minor damage" and was able to continue to St Katherine's Docks where paramedic's crews treated the people injured.
Five people needed to be taken to the hospital, with a 64-year-old woman who fell down stairs, suffering pelvic and head injuries .
The Met's marine policing unit also attended the scene but no arrests were made.
Tower Bridge remained open to traffic.
