Teen Couple Die In Fall From Sixth-Floor Balcony

Two teenagers have died after they fell from a sixth floor balcony in Knights Tower, in Deptford, south London just after midnight.

The 18-year-old man and 19-year-old woman were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police officers said that both students were at a house party and some residents saw the teens "trying to have sex" on the balcony while the rest of their friends were in the flat.

One of the neighbours, who lives in an opposite building to Knights Tower said: "We were shutting our blinds when we saw a couple on their balcony frolicking", he added that less than 10 minutes later he heard a "bang" and he and his partner thought someone "had been shot".

Inspector Shaun Carre-Brown described the deaths, which are not being treated as suspicious, as a "tragic accident".

Det Ch Supt Helen Millichap said officers believe the youngsters were students of a local college and added they "will work closely with the college to make sure any affected students receive information and support".

Bride's £6,000 Ring Stolen From Church

A bride's engagement ring has been stolen from St Peter ad Vincula church in Wisborough Green, West Sussex on Saturday, as she was getting married.

The sapphire and diamond-encrusted platinum ring was taken while its owner Caroline Marshall, 32, was saying her vows to her husband-to-be James Granshaw, 29.

Relatives said the bride was left in tears when she realised the "priceless" sentimental-value ring was missing.

Mr Granshaw, worked with jewellers to design the £6,000 ring.

The bride realised when the ceremony was due to start that she still had her engagement ring on and gave it and her mobile phone to her bridesmaid, who put it in her handbag.

The handbag was stolen and the couple realised the jewellery was missed after the ceremony and police were called.

Police spokeswoman said they had traced the movement of the iPhone's signal to the centre of Brighton but do not know where it or the ring have ended up.
