Civil Servant Sacked Over Offensive Comments
A junior civil servant has been fired for making offensive Wikipedia slurs about the Hillsborough disaster.
The 24-year-old was identified as being behind the posts in 2012, Cabinet Office Minister Frances Maude said.
His sacking follows an investigation by The Daily Telegraph which identified him through his internet activity.
The civil servant, who was based at offices in Liverpool, changed the phrase "You'll never walk alone", the anthem of the Liverpool Football Club, to "You'll never walk again".
In a statement to MPs Mr Maude said: "Extensive further inquiries were taken forward as a civil service disciplinary matter, involving potential breaches of the civil service code and of individual departments' policies on acceptable behaviour.
"An individual was then subject to a formal disciplinary investigation and dismissed for gross misconduct, on the grounds of responsibility for the 2012 edits."

Mr O'Donnell was expected to step down before the next general election, but Tuesday's announcement means a number of changes that were to follow his vacation of the role will have to be brought forward.

NAO Report Reveals Civil Servant Cuts
Significant reductions have been made by government departments to their staff numbers and salary bill since 2010. According to a report by the National Audit Office (NAO), the number of civil servants fell by 18% from 492,000 to 405,000 between March and December 2010. The annualised government worker salary bill stood at £11.
