UK To Provide Additional £2m For Emergency Relief In Iraq
The UK will provide an additional £2 million of emergency humanitarian relief to help tens of thousands of ordinary Iraqis in serious need, Prime Minister David Cameron announced today.
The second package of support will provide emergency medicines, including polio and measles vaccinations, food and basic shelter to women, men and children affected by the crisis. It will also enable aid agencies on the ground to trace and reunite families who have been separated while fleeing from the violence.
An initial £3 million of support was announced last Saturday (14 June 2014) by International Development Secretary Justine Greening. Today’s announcement brings to £5 million the total direct humanitarian support that is being provided by the UK for this crisis.

Post Office to offer own-brand loans and mortgages
The Post Office and Bank of Ireland have announced a joint venture which will see the creation of Post Office-branded financial products, such as mortgages and loans, launched early in the New Year. The venture will be owned equally by Post Office and Bank of Ireland Group and has an initial term of 10 years.

More classrooms and staff rooms will be built in schools under a new £10 million grant scheme, unveiled by the Department for Education and Skills. The 'Teaching Environments for the Future' programme will see funding funnelled into building new rooms or remodel existing accommodation in a number of schools around the country.

20 empty Government buildings will become spaces available for start-up businesses it has been announced today. 18 locations across England have been identified as having the potential to be used by aspiring entrepreneurs to build and grow their businesses. They include locations in London, Rugby, Leeds, Runcorn, Birmingham, Oxford and Bristol.
