England Lose Second World Cup Fixture
England are on the brink of having to exit the World Cup early after losing their second match in the tournament.
The side lost 2-1 to Uruguay on Thursday night. The match, which was held in Sao Paulo, saw Uruguay take a 1-0 lead thanks to a goal from Luis Suarez. Wayne Rooney even the score for England, before Suarez came back to score his second goal.
It is the second loss of this year's competition for England and the team now has to wait on the result of the Italy v Costa Rica game on Friday evening to see if they will progress to the knock-out stages, or whether they will go home early.

World Cup over for Owen following knee injury
England striker Michael Owen is returning home from the World Cup after a scan revealed that he ruptured his anterior cruiate knee ligament during Tuesday's match against Sweden. The 26-year-old Newcastle player was forced to leave the pitch just a minute into England's final group match against Sweden in Cologne on Tuesday night.

England grind down Trinidad and Tobago
It was a laborious match, but England defeated Trinidad and Tobago 2-0 to make it through to the second stage of the World Cup. In the last 16, England will have to face either Germany or Ecuador in the second round of the competition. But it was not a sparkling match.

The Met Office has issued a new weather warning for areas of England as 20mm of rain is expected to fall in the coming hours. It added that the conditions will bring a risk of damage and disruption from "potentially intense thundery downpours".

An England collapse for 129 has handed a six wicket victory to Australia in the second Ashes Test. Instrumental in the Australian win was the bowling of Shane Warne who took 4-49 with key batsmen playing poor shots in a dry spell of play that saw England manage only 60 in 43 overs for nine wickets.
