Emin's 'My Bed' Artwork Sells For £2.2m

Tracey Emin's 'My Bed' artwork has sold at auction for £2.2m.

The controversial piece was put up for sale at Christie's in London by art collector Charles Saatchi.

Mr Saatchi, 71, originally bought the work for £150,000 in 2000.

Emin's work, which she created in 1998, features an unmade bed and a floor littered with a number of items including cigarettes and empty vodka bottles.

Following the sale, Christie's said including a buyer's premium the artwork was sold to an anonymous bidder for £2,546,500. It had been given a guide price of £800,000 and £1.2m. Emin, 50, was in attendance at Tuesday's auction.
