Yorkshire Ready For 2014 Tour De France Opening

Yorkshire is ready for the opening of the Tour de France, which will set off from Leeds on Saturday.

Yourkshire is putting the finishing touches to its preparations, which will be the biggest event it has ever hosted with a global TV audience of 3.5bn in 188 countries.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry will attend the event.

Cyclists will go through the spectacular scenery of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, and continue the race on Sunday from York to Sheffield.

More than 300 miles of roads will be closed during the weekend.

IPCC Ask North Yorkshire Police For Savile Review
North Yorkshire Police has been asked to review “all relevant material” relating to contact its officers had with Jimmy Savile. According to the BBC, the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) is acting "in light of information received" and said it wanted to know whether there were "conduct matters that should be referred to us".

Technology Helps Convict Man Of 1984 Wakefield Attack
A 56-year-old has been charged in connection with a violent sex attack in West Yorkshire more than 30 years ago. Officers from the Major Incident Review Team opened a new investigation into an attack on a woman in Wakefield in August 1984.

North Yorkshire Pub Fined For Polluting Waterway
A north Yorkshire pub has been fined £150,000 for polluting a watercourse in Teeside. The Environment Agency prosecuted the Spirit Pub Company Ltd, owners of the Cross Keys Inn in Guisborough, after investigations revealed that sewage was not being treated effectively before being discharged.
