Big Brother enters final week with no clear favourite to win

Big Brother is set to enter its final week with no clear favourite to win in what has been described as the dullest incarnation of the show to date.

Friday night will see Scotsman Cameron Stout pitted against student Nush Nowak, from Malvern, in the last eviction before the final stretch – which will see one housemate last the distance to win £70,000 in prize money.

During the past eight weeks, the programme has introduced numerous twists and turns for the housemates, which have included a trip to the Big Brother Africa house for one of the inmates, and the return of a housemate who had previously been evicted by the public vote.

However, these sudden rule-changes have failed to attract a viewing audience on the scale of previous Big Brothers, prompting speculation that the public has tired of the format. However, producers of the show, Endemol, have stated that there will be at least two more series of a format which has proven to be a winner – at least in financial terms – for Channel 4, which in 2002, secured all UK rights to the series over the next four years.

Ten million people tuned in to last year's finale, which saw IT administrator Kate Lawler become the first woman to win Big Brother.
