UHL Ban Showering Following Legionella Bacteria In Water System

A ban on showering has been put in place for patients of two wards at Leicester General Hospital, following the discovery of Legionella bacteria in its water system.

The ban has been put in place for patients on wards 28 and 29, with University Hospitals of Leicester (UHL) saying that there are "no known cases of infection".

Edinburgh Zoo Giant Panda Conceives

Edinburgh Zoo has confirmed that its Giant Panda Tian Tian has conceived.

The panda was artificially inseminated earlier this year, however experts have said that doesn't mean she is technically pregnant and have urged people "not to get too excited."

If everything "goes to plan" the zoo has said "a 20 to 30 day pregnancy will follow with the Giant Panda potentially giving birth in August.

Channel Tunnel Fully Reopened

The Channel Tunnel have said that the service is now fully operational agains after a power fault caused delays and disruptions on Monday.

Passengers were evacuated from a train which stopped about a quarter of the way into its journey.

Services are now running through both the main tunnels but there are delays of up to an hour on the Eurostar, and four trains were cancelled earlier.

UK Landmark Panda Deal Agreed
For the first time in 17 years, two giant pandas will be residing in Edinburgh Zoo. The UK landmark deal was agreed at Lancaster House in London by the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland and the Chinese Wildlife Conservation Association. The agreement was witnessed by Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg and Vice Premier of China Li Keqiang.

Tests Show 'Strong Indication' Edinburgh Panda Is Pregnant
Edinburgh Zoo's panda is thought to be pregnant and could give birth by the end of the month, experts say. Tian Tian was artificially inseminated in July after the failure of efforts to bring her together with a make partner.

Zoo And Director To Be Prosecuted Following Death Of Keeper
South Lakes Safari Zoo and its Director, David Gill, are to be prosecuted for breaches of health and safety law after a zoo keeper was fatally injured by a Sumatran tiger. Sarah McClay (24) died at the zoo in Dalton-in-Furness, south Cumbria on 24 May, 2013.

Ofsted Investigate Child Left At London Zoo
A four-year-old boy was left behind at London Zoo following a nursery school trip, according to a report by the BBC. It is understood that the child was reported missing last Wednesday afternoon following a trip to the zoo from a nursery in Borehamwood in Hertfordshire.

Animals Killed In Zoo Blaze
A number of animals have died after a fire broke out at a zoo near Edinburgh at the weekend. The blaze spread through the reptile house of the Five Sisters Zoo in West Lothian in the early hours of Sunday morning. At least two meerkats and an otter are among the animals killed, while nine further meerkats are missing and feared dead.
