AC/DC Frontman Awarded Honorary Degree

Brian Johnson, the British singer with Australian band AC/DC, has been awarded an honorary degree from Northumbria University.

The 67-year-old was awarded and honorary Doctor of Music.

"When you move away from here and you come back, you suddenly realise what you had... it's wonderful to be back," Mr Johnson said.

Adding: "I hate to use the word humbling but it really does slap you down a couple of notches."

Authenticity Reading Cafe van Gogh Questioned

The authenticity of an alleged Vincent van Gogh painting on display in a Reading cafe is to be investigated.

The painting, House at Auvers II, was displayed at the Picnic Cafe for the launch of the Open for Art festival.

However, a van Gogh expert, David Brooks, has claimed that the painting is not genuine.

It is understood that the cafe is now seeking to have the painting authenticated.

Bus Full Of Snakes And Other Animals Stolen From Church Car Park

A thief has stolen a minibus filled with snakes, meerkats, birds of prey and a poisonous spider.

The converted bus is owned by the Natural History Presentations and contained £20,000 worth of animals.

It was stolen from the car park of St Andrew's church car park in Sedgley on Tuesday.

Man Shot Dead In London Cafe
A murder investigation is underway after a man was shot dead in broad daylight at a south east London café. According to witnesses, the gunman walked up to the victim in the D A Sandwich café in Mottingham, said "hello" then shot him in the back of the head.

First Official Duchess of Cambridge Painting Revealed
The first official painted portrait of The Duchess of Cambridge has gone on show to the public. The National Portrait Gallery's painting of its Patron was commissioned by the Gallery, and given by Sir Hugh Leggatt, in memory of Sir Denis Mahon, through the Art Fund.

The infamously infinite task of painting the Forth Bridge has been completed, according to Network rail on Friday. The continuous painting of the 2,467 metre, Scottish landmark has become a colloquial phrase, referring to work that can never be completed.
