Birmingham City Centre Tunnels To Close For Six Weeks

Following a series of night time closures, tunnels through Birmingham city centre are to be closed full time, until 06 September.

Work is being carried out in the tunnels at St Chad's and Queensway to install new ventilation systems, along with new CCTV and communications equipment.

Over night closures have been in place since the beginning of July, but from 22:00 tonight (Friday) the tunnels will be closed full time for the next six weeks.

Cut-price rail and bus passes are being offered in an effort to ease commuter traffic.
