Man Dies After Fall From Eastbourne Pier
Essex Police have reported the death of a man who fell from Eastbourne Pier, while carrying out construction work.
It is understood that a 44-year-old man from Cumbria was working on the recently fire-damaged pier when he fell to the beach below on Tuesday afternoon.
East Coast Ambulance Service pronounced the man dead at the scene, later reporting that he had suffered head injuries.
The Health and Safety Executive has been informed and an investigation is underway.

Historic Pier Restoration Campaign A Success
The repair of the historic Hastings Pier is to begin, following a successful community campaign by a local charity. Communities Secretary Eric Pickles has welcomed the move, which will see the pier reopened after being saved from disrepair and abandonment by a local community group. The pier is expected to reopen to the public in 2015.

Twenty-Five Injured In M4 Coach Crash
Around 25 people were injured when a coach crashed on the M4 near Newbury on Wednesday evening. The incident happened around 7pm, when the private hire coach came off the westbound carriageway, between junctions 14 and 15, and plunged around 30ft down an embankment.

Man dies in explosion at Stevenage bakery
A man has been killed in an explosion at a baker's shop in Stevenage this morning, it has been reported today. A second man was injured in the blast which occurred at Greggs Bakers, Stevenage, Hertfordshire at around 11.30am. Five women who were working in the shop at the time have been treated for shock.

Second man dies after leaping from pier
A second man has died in hospital after leaping off a pier in Essex and plunging into the sea. The man, one of five who jumped off the Clacton Pier in Essex on July 8, were found in the sea by lifeboat crews. The two injured men were flown to hospital where one died on arrival and the second man is has also died in Colchester General Hospital.

Fire Destroys Historic Fleetwood Pier
An overnight blaze has swept through an Edwardian pier on the Lancashire coast, destroying all the buildings along the once-popular seaside attraction. It is believed the fire at Fleetwood Pier broke-out yesterday afternoon in a pub-cafeteria at the pier's shore end.
