Funeral Held For MN17 Crash Victim Liam Sweeney
A funeral service has been held in Newcastle for Liam Sweeney, a victim of the MH17 air disaster.
Mr Sweeney and John Alder (63) were killed in the plane crash in Ukraine on 17th July.
Family and friend's gathered at St Mary's Cathedral, where Mr Sweeney was described as a "family man and a gentle giant".
According to reports, Newcastle United Manager Alan Pardew and team captain Fabricio Coloccini attended the service of the "devoted" fan, and a Newcastle scarf and shirt were displayed on the coffin.
Mr Sweeney and Mr Alder had been travelling to watch the club on a pre-season tour of New Zealand.

Human Tissue Bill set to end organ removal

Sweeney Sentenced To Life Imprisonment
John Sweeney has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the murders of Paula Fields and Melissa Halstead. Sentencing took place at the Old Bailey today with the judge imposing a 'whole life order' on Sweeney. Sweeney was also sentenced to ten years for perverting the course of justice - the sentences will run concurrently.

Relative held over family deaths
Police are continuing to hold a 33-year-old man in connection with the deaths of four of his relatives in Newcastle. The bodies of Olufunke Sobo, 36, her brother Yemi and her two children, Abigail, 12, and five-year-old Steven Crampton were found in Hawthorn Gardens, Newcastle.

Man pleads guilty to toddler abduction
A man has admitted to kidnapping a three-year-old girl, driving her hundreds of miles from her home and sexually assaulting her. Craig Sweeney abducted the toddler from her home in the Rumney area of Cardiff on January 2. He then drove the child over the border into England and sexually assaulted her.
