ONS Figures Show Further Fall In UK Inflation Rate
New figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) have revealed that the annual rate of inflation, measured as the Consumer Price Index (CPI), fell in August to 1.5%.
The news means that the Bank of England will not be under pressure to increase interest rates, as the CPI remains below its target of 2%.
The figures also show that Retail Price Index (RPI) fell to 2.4% in August, down from 2.5% in July.

The September data from Land Registry's House Price Index shows a rising market with a monthly house price change of 0.9% up from half a per cent in August. The annual drop of 5.6%, up from a low of minus 16.3% in February, takes the average house price in England and Wales to £158,377.

New figures from the Office for National Statistics have shown that the UK's unemployment rate has fallen to 2.32 million, a decrease of 167,000 in the three months to November. The unemployment rate currently stands at 7.1%. The number of people claiming Jobseeker's Allowance also dropped to 1.

The UK's national inflation rate fell from 0.1% in July, as measured by the Consumer Price Index. The ONS figures also show that the Retail Prices Index (RPI) rose from 1.0% in July to 1.1% in August.

Unemployment At Lowest Rate Since 2008
Newly published figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) reveal that unemployment in the UK fell by 146,000 in the three months to July, now standing at 2.02 million. The rate of unemployment now stands at 6.2%, its lowest rate since November 2008.

Petrol Price Pump Up Inflation
Growth in the UK inflation rate last month has been attributed to increased petrol prices. Official figures show the consumer prices index (CPI) rose faster than predicted to an annual rate of 1.9%, compared with 1.5% in October. November had the highest recorded figure since May. Inflation is expected to rise next year as VAT charges return to 17.
