Unison NHS Members Vote For Strike Action
NHS workers in England will strike in a dispute over pay.
Unison balloted its members, which includes nurses, healthcare assistants and porters, over possible strike action, with two-thirds reportedly voting in favour of industrial action.
The Royal College of Midwives, GMB and Unite unions are also balloting their members on possible strike action.
The dispute surrounds a government decision to offer NHS staff a 1% pay increase for staff other than those already receiving progression-in-the-job increases.
However, this went against a recommendation of an independent pay review board, which had called for an across-the-board rise.
The results of the three other union's ballots are expected in the coming weeks.
