Man Jailed For Selling Bogus Bomb Detectors
A man has been jailed for three and a half years for making bogus bomb detectors with his wife in a garden shed, claiming they could find missing Madeline McCann.
Samuel Tree, 68, said the detectors, named Alpha 6, could track down explosives and drugs.
The detectors cost only a few pound to make but were sold for over £1,000.
His wife, Joan Tree, received 300 hours of community work.

A 47-year-old man has been convicted of fraud in relation to the making and selling of fake bomb detectors. Gary Bolton, of Redshank Road in Chatham, Kent, made "nothing more than boxes with handles and antennae", which were then sold for £10,000 each, the Old Bailey heard.

A man has been jailed for 10 years after being found guilty of selling fake bomb detectors. Appearing at the Old Bailey, James McCormick, 56, from Somerset was said to have perpetrated a "callous confidence trick", the BBC has said. It is believed McCormick made £50m from sales, selling around £26.

A British businessman has been jailed for seven years for selling fake bomb detectors. 47-year-old Gary Bolton, of Redshank Road, Chatham, was convicted of two counts of fraud over the sale of homemade "bomb detectors", which the judge described as "useless" and "dross".
