CAP Rule E-Cigarettes Can Be Advertised On TV
Manufacturers will be allow to advertise electronic cigarettes on television from 10 November, following a Committee of Advertising Practice (CAP) ruling.
The CAP ruling states that while e-cigarettes can be advertised on TV, those ads must not promote tobacco products or show their use "in a positive light".
The new rules will be monitored and reviewed after one year.
The CAP writes and maintains UK advertising rules, which are enforced by the Advertising Standards Authority.

M&S 'recovery plan' on track
Mark's and Spencer has reported good trading figures in the important pre-Christmas period with like-for-like sales up 5.6%. The best performance was in general merchandise, sales were up 7.1%, and in food which was up 3.6%.

The BBC has launched a new version of BBC iPlayer for TV. For the first time, BBC iPlayer on TV is personalised, specifically designed for the living room, and easy to use. The new version gives audiences the control they want directly on the TV, in a design custom-built for the living room, so the BBC iPlayer experience feels just like TV.

BBC Journalists To Strike Over Redundancies
The National Union of Journalists (NUJ) has announced its BBC members will strike on 18 February in protest over the corporation’s compulsory redundancies scheme. The job losses are part of the BBC's Delivering Quality First programme, which plans to cut more than 2,000 jobs over a period of five years.

Network Rail Could Face Multi-Million Pound Fine
Network Rail (NR) could be facing a large fine over failures to deliver on plans to improve long-distance train punctuality, rail regulators have said. The Office of Rail Regulation (ORR) said the rail infrastructure company faces a multi-million pound fine if it misses lateness targets for 2013-14.
