PM Discusses Ebola Outbreak With World Leaders
The Prime Minister has held a video conference with four world leaders to discuss the ongoing Ebola outbreak.
David Cameron spent around 75 minutes speaking with President Obama, President Hollande, Chancellor Merkel and Prime Minister Renzi, with a Downing Street spokesperson saying that the "bulk of the call focused on the outbreak of the Ebola virus in West Africa."
It is understood the leaders agreed that the current outbreak is the "most serious international public health emergency in recent years and that the international community needed to do much more and faster to halt the rise of the disease in the region".
Mr Cameron is believed to have called on the leaders to "seize the opportunity" of a face-to-face meeting in Milan this coming Friday, with a follow up discussion at the European Council next week.
The Foreign Secretary also hosted a COBRA meeting on Ebola on Wednesday afternoon to discuss what more we can do to strengthen the response of the international community to the crisis in West Africa.
