Tower Of London Poppies To Be Lit For Longer
Historic Royal Palaces has announced the display of ceramic poppies at the Tower of London will be lit for an extra hour at night and earlier in the morning to allow more people to see the exhibition.
Currently the poppies are lit from 5am until dawn and from dusk until 11pm. They will now be lit from 4:30am and then kept lit until midnight.
It is being done to allow more people to see the display.

Thieves Target Commemorative Ceramic Poppies
Commemorative ceramic poppies that were "planted" at the Tower of London to mark the deaths of soldiers during World War One are being targeted by thieves. The display – made up of 888,246 ceramic poppies – is currently being removed by thousands of volunteers following the end of the exhibition on 12th November.

Pink Star Lit For April Jones
A pink star will become part of Christmas decorations in Machynlleth, Powys for missing five-year-old April Jones. April was last seen near her home in the town on 1 October. A man has been charged with her murder. The one-metre-square star will be lit up with the rest of the lights this evening during the switching-on ceremony.

A wind farm with the power to supply clean electricity to over 415,000 homes, more than all the demand in Suffolk, will be confirmed by Alistair Darling, Secretary of State for Trade and Industry today. The Greater Gabbard (GG) scheme supplying 500MW through 140-turbines will cut CO2 emissions by 1.

Olympic torch lit in Athens as Games countdown begins
The countdown to the Athens 2004 Olympic Games began today with the lighting of the Olympic flame in ancient Olympia, Greece. The lighting ceremony featured a high priestess who lit the Olympic flame in the Temple of Hera using a parabolic mirror to capture the sun’s rays and ignite an Olympic torch.

Volunteers Move In To Start Removing Tower Poppies
Following the "planting" of the final ceramic poppy at the Tower of London during Tuesday's Armistice services, volunteers will begin removing the 888,246 commemorative flowers. The first poppy was placed in July, with 13-year-old cadet Harry Hayes placing the final hand-made poppy at the Tower yesterday.
