Duck Farm Cull Underway
Government veterinary experts are to begin a cull of some 6,000 ducks at a breeding farm where an outbreak of bird flu has been confirmed.
An exclusion zone of 6 miles is in place around the East Yorkshire farm in the village of Nafferton. Chief Veterinary Officer Nigel Gibbons said the bio-security in place is "very good", and reiterated that the threat to humans was "probably quite low".
Tests have confirmed the flu strain as H5, but as previous reports confirmed it is not the H5N1 strain, which can be deadly to humans.
The cull is expected to last all day.
