Appeal Issued For Information On Beach Find Body

Police Scotland have issued an appeal for information after the body of a young man was found on a beach at the weekend.

A member of the public found the body of 25-year-old Paul Fitzpatrick on a beach in Saltcoats in North Ayrshire at about 09:15 on Saturday.

Police said there was nothing suspicious about Mr Fitzpatrick's death, but they are trying to establish his movements in the days before his body was found.

Mr Fitzpatrick was last seen in Ardrossan on Thursday 22 January.

Det Insp William McDicken said: "A post mortem examination has taken place and whilst there is nothing to suggest that there are any suspicious circumstances surrounding Mr Fitzpatrick's death, we are still working to establish his last movements in the local area.

"He was last seen in the Ardrossan, near Stanley Road around 1730 hours on Thursday 22 January 2015.

"At that time he was wearing a red t-shirt, grey zipped top and grey tracksuit trousers. He is white around 5ft 9in in height and of slim build with light red hair.

"I would ask anyone who thinks they might have seen Paul in the Ardrossan area after this time to contact us, as they may be able to help us establish his last movements."
