Woman Arrested Over Death Of Care Home Resident
North Yorkshire Police have arrested a 53-year-old woman in connection with the death of a care home resident in Thirsk.
The body of an 81-year-old resident at Sowerby House was found in his room on Thursday.
Police said that Heather Pauline Davidson, of Sowerby, has been charged with murder.
It is understood the suspect did not work at the care home.
Ms Davidson is due to appear at Northallerton Magistrates' Court later today.

Older people should have access to a ‘one-stop-shop’ providing information on care home provision, the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) has recommended. The OFT also said that care home residents should have better access to complaints procedures and be provided with greater price transparency and fairer contract terms.

New Law To Strengthen Protection Of Vulnerable People
Some of the most vulnerable people in society will be better protected against abuse and poor care as a result of new legislation coming into force today. People who lack capacity in hospitals and care homes will now be protected by a new law nown as the 'Mental Capacity Act Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards'.

Davis Calls For 'Guantanamo Torture' Statement
A former shadow home secretary has called on ministers to urgently respond to allegations the Government was complicit in the torture of a resident in Guantanamo Bay. Senior Conservative David Davis said a High Court ruling today had alleged a British resident who was held in the Cuban detention camp had been tortured.
