Police Search For Man In Connection With Homeless Shelter Fire

Essex Police are searching for a man in connection with a fire at a homeless shelter on Wednesday.

A man, who had been taking a shower, was forced to jump from the roof of the burning building onto a double-decker bus to escape the fire. The man was treated in hospital for the effects of smoke inhalation, but has since been released.

Police said they believed the fire at the Braintree Emergency Night Shelter, was an act of arson and are searching for a suspect seen fleeing from the scene.

The suspect is believed to be in his late teens. Anyone with any information is asked to contact police.

Police And Suspect Rescued From Marshes In South-East London

Three police officers and the suspect they were chasing had to rescued after becoming stuck in mud marshes in south-east London.

Police had been chasing a 19-year-old man, who had fled from a van which failed to stop.

A police helicopter and boat team were launched as part of the rescue operation.

It is understood the suspect is currently in hospital after he began to show signs of hypothermia.

Helicopter And Lifeboat Rescue Men From Sinking Boat

An RAF helicopter and lifeboat have rescued four men from a sinking fishing boat near Bardsey Island off the north Wales coast.

The rescue operation was launched at about 23:20 on Thursday night on rough seas.

The three men were found in a life raft after abandoning their sinking ship.

They were taken by helicopter to hospital at Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor.

British Man Dies In Dubai Police Custody
A British man has died in police custody in Dubai. Lee Bradley Brown, 39, from east London, died on Tuesday after he was taken to a Dubai police station where he was allegedly assaulted and put into a cell. It has been reported that Mr Brown, was arrested over a row at the luxury hotel Burj Al Arab hotel.

Man Arrested Over Kent Doctor's Murder
A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a doctor in Kent. Consultant paediatrician Dr Victoria Anyetei, 54, was found in her car in the driveway of her home in Dartford on August 14. She had been stabbed to death. Kent Police said that the man was arrested on suspicion of murder at an address in Dartford.

Release Of Police Killer Described As 'Sickening'
The release of a man convicted of killing three unarmed police officers in 1966 has been described as "sickening". Harry Roberts, now aged 78, has been released from prison after serving 48 years for 1966 murders of three unarmed police officers in Shepherd's Bush in west London.

Major Police Hunt Launched After Boy Taken From Hospital
A major police hunt has begun after a five-year-old boy with a brain tumour, was taken by his family without consent from Southampton General Hospital. Police said that Ashya King was taken from the hospital by Brett King, 51, and Naghemeh King, 45, on Thursday. It is thought he may have been taken to France.

'Skull Cracker' In Custody In London
Kent Police, in partnership with officers from the Metropolitan Police Service, have arrested two men in East London on suspicion of conspiracy to commit armed robbery. On 3 May, Kent Police began a search for Michael Wheatley, 55, who had failed to return to HMP Standford Hill after being released on temporary licence.
