1990 Missing Person Investigation Becomes Murder Inquiry
Cambridgeshire Police have upgraded a 1990 missing persons investigation to a murder inquiry.
Police said they believe that Andrew Belford (27) was murdered on Friday 28 September 1990.
Mr Bedford, from Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire, went missing almost 25 years ago, and police said that murder was "always a possibility" but no body had ever been found.
Detectives carrying a review of the "cold case" have now officially made it a murder inquiry.
Police believe he was shot dead "sometime during the evening of 28 September at a garage in Ramsey". It is understood that the garage was called Mongrel Cars, and no longer exists.
Three people were arrested on suspicion of murder in 1990 as part of the original inquiry but no one has ever been charged.
A police spokesperson said that the prime suspect in the case is now dead, "but others who were involved have never been brought to justice".
