Mother Of Baby Abandoned In Arcade Charged With Attempted Murder
The mother of a child found abandoned in the toilets of an amusement arcade in Southport, has been arrested.
The newborn baby was found by staff at Silcock's Amusements in Merseyside, last Thursday.
The child is being cared for by staff at Ormskirk Hospital, Lancashire later, who have named her April.
Police traced the child's mother the following day, and she received medical treatment.
Merseyside Police announced today (Wednesday) that the woman has been charged with attempted murder and child cruelty.
She is due to appear before South Sefton Magistrates today.

More people are calling the NSPCC Helpline about serious child abuse since the death of Baby Peter two years ago. Between April 2008 and March 2009, the 24-hour freephone service passed on 11,243 suspected child protection cases to police or social services - an increase of more than a third over two years.

The mother of a newborn girl has been found after the child's body was discovered at a train station on Wednesday. Police say a teenage girl has come forward and is now receiving treatment. A white baby girl was found while emptying bins at Fleet station in Hampshire.
