Major Fire In Leyton Investigated
An investigation has been launched into the cause of a major fire on an industrial estate in Leyton in the early hours of Thursday morning.
At its height more than 100 firefighters were at the scene of the blaze at an industrial unit on Rigg Approach.
It is understood that some seventeen people were evacuated from the building, taking shelter in a nearby unit on the industrial estate.
London Fire Brigade said that the fire was contained to the building and stopped from spreading to surrounding buildings and a nearby railway line.
Station Manager Alan Lamb who was at the scene said: "Firefighters managed to stop the fire from spreading to any adjacent buildings and ensure train services on the adjacent railway line were able to keep running."
LFB said that the building was badly damaged in the blaze and an investigation into the cause is no underway.

Heroic Tyne Firemen Honoured
Two Tyne and Wear firefighters are to be recognised for their bravery at a special ceremony today. Andrew Nelson and Allan Richardson will be presented with the Chief Fire Officer's Commendations for brave and meritorious conduct after saving a man's life. The men took part in a dramatic rescue in the early hours of 4 February.

Firefighters launch four-day strike
More than 1,000 firefighters across Merseyside have begun a four-day strike in protest over planned job cuts. Another four-day stoppage is scheduled to begin two hours after the first one ends.

Man Dies In London Blaze
A man has died following a blaze at a block of flats in south-east London. Firefighters found the man collapsed on the fourth floor of the seven floor building at 11.30pm on Tuesday. London Fire Brigage (LFB) said that three engines and around 15 firefighters were deployed to tackle the fire at the building in Steadman Street, Walworth, Southwark.

Blaze At City Centre Pub
A fire that broke out at a Cardiff pub has lead to the evacuation of a major department store and city market. It is believed the fire started in the kitchen of O'Neill's pub in Trinity Street at 11.40 today. No injuries have been reported.

Homes evacuated after east London industrial estate fire
Around 500 people have been evacuated from the area surrounding a huge fire on an industrial estate in Leyton, east London. London Fire Brigade said that 50 firefighters were working to make the area safe after a blaze broke out in a single storey warehouse on Argall Avenue at around 3.40am this morning.
