TV Entertainer Val Doonican Dies
TV Entertainer Val Doonican has died in Buckinghamshire at the age of 88.
It is understood the Irish singer passed away 'peacefully' at a nursing home.
In a statement, his family said: "He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by family, friends and his many fans."
Irish entertainer Roy Walker tweeted: "You were a joy to work with. A real 'star'. Love you man."
Born in Waterford, Ireland, Mr Doonican had five top ten records throughout his career.
The performer was a regular fixture on TV from the sixties to the eighties.
His jumpers became his trademark along with a rocking chair from which he often performed his hits.
Mr Doonican stopped performing in 2009 after over 60 years in show-business.

Entertainer Danny La Rue has died at his home in Kent, following a short illness, his spokesperson has confirmed. The 81-year-old - best known for his legendary female impersonation act - died after suffering from cancer. His spokeswoman said: "Danny died peacefully in his sleep just before midnight last night after a short illness.

Barrymore released without charge
Entertainer Michael Barrymore has been released without charge following his arrest in connection with the death of Stuart Lubbock. Mr Barrymore, 55, was arrested along with two other men - Jonathan Kenny, 37, and 32-year-old Justin Merritt - last Thursday on suspicion of murder and sexual assault.
