Thoresby Colliery Closes
The last remaining miners are to leave Thoresby Colliery in Nottinghamshire today.
The last piece of coal will be extracted today from the deep coal mine, following an announcement in April last year that it would close.
The mine's 600 staff have been laid off through compulsory and voluntary redundancies over the last year.
The closure marks the end of the industry in the county, leaving one deep coal mine in Kellingley, Yorkshire. However, this is also set to close in December.
New Jobs For Blaenau Gwent
Almost 20 new jobs are to be created by Express Contract Drying in Ebbw Vale, Blaenau Gwent.
The jobs are being created as part of a £3m investment, which will see the installation of new machinery and an expansion of the factory's capacity.
The company, based at Rassau Industrial Estate, manufactures colourings and flavourings for the food and pharmaceutical industries.
Police Search For Teenager Believed To Be Missing With 37-Year-Old Man
Police have appealed for information on the whereabouts of a 14-year-old girl, believed to be with a 37-year-old man who is wanted for her abduction.
The teenager, Camilia Lupu, was reported missing on 26 June.
She is believed to be travelling with Romanian national Alin Coman.
Originally from Romania, but living in Oldham, Camilia is described as 5' 7'' tall, slim and with long dark hair and brown eyes.

'Fast-track' process announced for miners compensation
A new fast-track compensation process for miners suffering from lung damage has been announced by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). Miners who opt for the new process, which is based on a breathing test to assess the effect of coal dust on lung function, will be entitled to up to £12,900 in compensation.

Man Arrested Over Gleision Colliery Deaths
A 55-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of four miners in Wales in September. Police have not named the man arrested but the BBC said it understood the man is Gleision mine manager, Malcolm Fyfield. He is in custody at Port Talbot police station.

The government's Energy White Paper was due to be published in March, but it was delayed and another consultation process had to be started following a legal challenge by environmental campaign group Greenpeace.
