Man Charged Over Fatal Shooting In Liverpool
A 25-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in Garston, Liverpool on Tuesday night.
Police were called to reports of a road accident between a car and a scrambler bike on Banks Road in Garston at about 20:45 last night.
However, when police arrived at the scene they found an 18-year-old man with serious gunshot wounds.
The victim was taken to the Royal Liverpool University Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short while later.
The area has been cordoned off whilst forensic examinations are carried out and house-to-house inquiries are underway. High visibility patrols have been stepped up in the area.
DCI Gayle Rooney, said: "The investigation is in its early stages and extensive inquiries are being carried out to establish any potential motive and to identify those responsible.
"This was a cold blooded, targeted attack on a residential street which has taken away the life of a young man. The people responsible for this attack knew exactly what they were doing.
"These people need to be caught - a young man, who should have had his life before him has been killed and his family are now faced with coming to terms with their loss.
"There is no place for firearms, or those who use them and bring fear to our communities, on our streets. We need members of the public to come forward with information so we can keep our streets safe. I would urge anyone who saw anything, or who has any information, which could help us with our enquiries to contact us urgently. You may not think that the information you have is significant but it could help us with our enquiries in relation to either of these incidents.
"We are particularly interested in talking to anyone who may have witnessed the Audi or scrambler bike in the Garston area shortly before the incident, or who witnessed the incident itself, to come forward."
The offenders are believed to have run off towards Blackburn Street, or through the industrial estate. The males are described as white. The one armed, with what is believed to have a shotgun, was wearing dark clothing and a second male was wearing red shorts and a t-shirt. The third male is not further described.
Anyone who has any information which could help detectives with their inquiries is asked to contact the Matrix Serious Organised Crime team on 0800 230 0600, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
