Driver Cut Free From Car After Crash

A 72-year-old woman has been cut free from her car after it collided with the side of a house in Dumfries and Galloway.

The incident occurred on the Southwick Road in Dalbeattie just after 6pm on 26 July.

Emergency services attended the scene.

The woman was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

A dog which was also travelling in the vehicle was unhurt.

Fugitive Vicar Hands Himself In

A vicar who was thought to have fled the country after failing to return to court has handed himself in to police.

Simon Reynolds, of Farnham, Surrey, did not return to Sheffield Crown Court on 23 July and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

A manhunt was launched after it was suspected he had fled to Europe.

Reynolds, who was found guilty of four counts of theft, handed himself in at Sheffield police station earlier today 27 July.

He is accused of keeping an estimated £24,000 of fees handed over by bereaved families and engaged couples, between 2007 and 2013.

Music Festival Tent Thefts Investigated

An investigation is underway after a spate of thefts occurred while tent owners slept at the Wickerman Festival in Scotland.

A total of 14 tents were targeted by thieves, with cash, mobile phones, electrical items and credit cards stolen.

The thefts took place in the Green Camping Area of the Dundrennan site in the early hours of 26 July.

Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the area.

Sunny Weather Boosts UK Sales
Sunny weather in July has been credited in part for aiding an economic boost within the retail industry. The findings were released today in a statistical bulletin by the Office for National Statistics. Estimates of retail sales for July showed continued growth in the quantity of bought goods.

House Prices Take September Dip
Data from Land Registry's House Price Index has revealed an annual price decrease of 2.6%. The average property value in England and Wales is now £162,109, representing a monthly change from August to September of 0.3% down. This continues the negative monthly price change seen in August of -0.1%.

Three Teens Arrested Over GTAV Robbery
Police in north London have arrested three teenagers in connection with the violent robbery of a 23-year-old man, suspected to have been targeted for his copy of the video game, Grand Theft Auto V. The victim is understood to have been making his way home at around 1.30am on Tuesday when he was attacked.

Employment Up By More Than 40,000 In Three Months To July
The number of people employed in the UK rose by 42,000 in the three months to July, new figures from National Statistics Office (NSO) have revelaed. By the end of July, total employment stood at 31.09 million, up 413,000 on the same period in 2014.

Firefighters To Go On Strike For Eight Consecutive Days
Firefighters in England and Wales will strike on eight consecutive days this month, saying that the current proposals by government are unacceptable, unworkable, unrealistic and nothing short of a "vicious" attack on firefighters' pensions.
