24-Year-Old Charged Over Attempted Child Abductions
A 24-year-old man has been charged with the attempted abduction of two children in Erdington, Birmingham.
Taha Sharif, of Ledbury Close, Ladywood, Birmingham, is due to appear before Birmingham Magistrates' Court.
It is alleged that he tried to grab two boys – a 10-year-old and a 14-year-old – on George Road at around 13.30 on Saturday 25 June.
He has been charged with one count of sexual assault, two counts of child abduction and two counts of attempted child abduction.
Detective Sergeant Gary Everitt, said : "I would like to reassure the public that we acted swiftly and that neither child was injured during the alleged abductions.
"The children, who were both accompanied by family members at the time, continue to be supported by specially trained officers."

Missing Schoolgirl Found On Isle of Wight
Hampshire Police have reported that a missing 15-year-old schoolgirl has been found "safe and well". The teenager from Southhampton was last seen on Saturday on the Isle of Wight. She is said to have been in the company of a man. A 33-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of child abduction, police have said.

New figures have suggested escalating child obesity in the UK is beginning to level off, however, rates are still too high, according to the government. The National Child Measurement Programme suggested families are benefiting from knowing the facts about their child's weight.

More people are calling the NSPCC Helpline about serious child abuse since the death of Baby Peter two years ago. Between April 2008 and March 2009, the 24-hour freephone service passed on 11,243 suspected child protection cases to police or social services - an increase of more than a third over two years.

Report notes increase in child porn sites
The number of child porn sites reported to police has increased by almost 80%, a new report has revealed. The report, by the Internet Watch Foundation, said that public intolerance of child abuse sites and the development of new skills aimed at tackling the distribution of such images had led to the increase in reports.
