Fire At Recycling Warehouse Investigated
An investigation has been launched into the cause of a fire at a recycling warehouse in Peckham.
Six fire engines and 35 firefighters attended the scene on Iberton Road where a fire had broken out in the single storey warehouse.
There were no reports of any injuries but it is understood that the building was badly damaged.
London Fire Brigade Station Manager Terry Gooding who was at the scene, said: "When we arrived there was lots of thick black smoke and flames were punching out of the window. Crews got water onto the fire very quickly and worked hard to successfully stop the fire from spreading across to the recycling plant."
Firefighters from Greenwich, Dockhead, Deptford, Peckham, New Cross and Old Kent Road fire stations attended the incident.
The Brigade was called at 08:55 and the fire was under control at 10:11. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Homes evacuated after east London industrial estate fire
Around 500 people have been evacuated from the area surrounding a huge fire on an industrial estate in Leyton, east London. London Fire Brigade said that 50 firefighters were working to make the area safe after a blaze broke out in a single storey warehouse on Argall Avenue at around 3.40am this morning.

Heroic Tyne Firemen Honoured
Two Tyne and Wear firefighters are to be recognised for their bravery at a special ceremony today. Andrew Nelson and Allan Richardson will be presented with the Chief Fire Officer's Commendations for brave and meritorious conduct after saving a man's life. The men took part in a dramatic rescue in the early hours of 4 February.

Firefighters launch four-day strike

A huge fire at a recycling plant in Salford has been brought under control, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service has reported. The fire at the Junction Eco Park, in the Clifton area of Swinton, broke out at about 16:40 on Sunday, and involved what authorities called a "large quantity" of recycled plastics.

100 Firefighters Tackle Recycling Centre Blaze
Up to 100 firefighters were needed to fight a major blaze at a recycling centre in Preston. Lancashire Fire and Rescue were called to the fire at about 21:30 on Thursday night, and 15 engines attended the scene at the height of the blaze. The fire caused major damage to the Recycling Lives centre on the Redscar estate in Longridge Road, Preston.
