Police Launch Murder Investigation In Ayrshire
Police in Ayrshire, Scotland, have launched a murder investigation following the death of an elderly man in the Saltcoats area.
The body of Malcolm Ballantyne, 72, was found at his home in Glebe Place at around 1pm on Friday, 21 August.
A post-mortem was carried out and police have now said they are treating Mr Ballantyne's death as murder.
Detective Chief Inspector Gary Cunningham, Major Investigation Team, said: "Officers are continuing to carry out door to door enquiries as well as examining CCTV to try and establish the circumstances surrounding Mr Ballantyne's death.
"An incident caravan has been set up in Glebe Street where officers will be available to provide reassurance and speak to any members of the public who may have information about what happened."
Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Lee Bradley Brown, 39, from east London, died on Tuesday after he was taken to a Dubai police station where he was allegedly assaulted and put into a cell. Double Murder Investigation Underway After Bodies Found In Garden
The discovery of human remains at a house in Nottinghamshire has become a double murder investigation, police have said. Police were speaking on Monday about the discovery on October 10 of the remains of two bodies in the garden of a house in Blenheim Close, Forest Town, Nottinghamshire. Police say they were led to the property by a tip.
