Work To Recover Debris Resumes After Shoreham Air Disaster
Work to recover debris after the air disaster at Shoreham has resumed as the search for further victims continues.
Police have revealed that over 200 people have called in to report concerns for missing relatives after the Shoreham air disaster.
Part of the jet was lifted by a crane on 24 August as work continues to clear the debris from the crash site on the A27.
Sussex Police said its previous estimate of 11 people 'highly likely' to have been killed in the accident remains in place.
However, Assistant Chief Constable Steve Barry said there was still the possibility that further evidence of victims could still be discovered.
Approximately 300 police officers, staff and emergency services have been working at the site since the Hawker Hunter jet crashed into the dual carriageway alongside Shoreham Airport on 22 August.
ACC Barry added the jet will now be transported to Farnborough for examination.
He said: "After that there will a second phase of checking that we have accounted for all the victims and this will be followed by a thorough finger tip search of the area to ensure that we have recovered all of the forensic evidence."
