Prisoner In Rooftop Protest Over Conditions
Convicted murderer Stuart Horner has spent the night on the roof or HMP Manchester in protest over prison conditions.
Horner, 35, was jailed for life in 2012 for the murder of his uncle.
It is understood that he scaled an 18ft fence at the prison on Sunday afternoon.
A number of roads around the prison have been closed while prison officers attempt to resolve the protest.
Council Consider Ban On Smoking At Beach
Pembrokeshire Council is to launch a consultation on a proposal to ban smoking on one of their beaches.
The council also voted to make playgrounds and sporting areas smoke-free, including e-cigarettes in the ruling.
All 100 parks, sports grounds and playing fields owned or managed by Pembrokeshire council or community councils will have signs erected asking people not to smoke.
Wind Warning Issued In South Wales
A yellow warning for wind has been issued by the Met Office for Cardiff, Bridgend and the Vale of Glamorgan.
Forecasters say given it is one of the first gales of the autumn, the public should be aware of possible localised disruption affecting travel.
The gusts will be particularly strong near to heavy showers and may be enough to cause some damage to trees.

Prison officers suspended over corruption claims
Fourteen prison officers have been suspended from HMP Pentonville following allegations of corruption. A spokesperson for the Prison Service confirmed that the prison officers had been suspended over allegations which concerned trafficking and "inappropriate relations" with prisoners.

Prisons face overcrowding crisis
Prisons in England and Wales are under "enormous pressure" and are facing a "looming overcrowding crisis", according to a charity report. The Prison Reform Trust reported that prison numbers have crept up again since Christmas rising to over 77,000 again.

Mephedrone Illegal Under New Act
Mephedrone and other cathinone derivatives will become illegal as Class B drugs from Friday, following the completion of the Parliamentary process today. Class B drugs carry a maximum prison sentence of five years for possession and a maximum prison sentence of 14 years for supplying and other trafficking offences.

Government to introduce partial smoking ban
The government has announced plans to introduce a partial smoking ban, following reports of a Cabinet row over the proposals. The plans, introduced as part of the Health Improvement Bill, will see smoking banned in all public places in England, but there will be exemptions for pubs, which do not serve food and private members clubs.

Three Guilty Of Mortgage Fraud
Three people have been convicted of fraudulently taking out a mortgage on a house in the Forest of Dean following a lengthy investigation. The investigation began in November 2008 when a property in Central Lydbrook was raided in an operation led by Gloucestershire County Council funded police constable.
