Police Issue Guidance For Rugby World Cup Fans
One day before the start of the 2015 Rugby World Cup the Metropolitan Police have issued advice and guidelines to "ensure their enjoyment of the event is not spoilt".
Fans are advised to –
Plan your journey in advance:
• Consider alternative stations; the closest station may not always be the quickest;
• Identify other possible routes and forms of transport as obvious routes may become too busy;
• Check transport updates before you travel – visit: tfl.gov.uk or the official Rugby World Cup journey planner
Large crowds attract thieves - you can take some simple precautions to keep your possessions safe:
• Keep purses zipped up in handbags and tuck bags under your arm;
• Don’t wave your phone around, use it only when you need to;
• Don’t leave bags unattended.
Superintendent Jo Edwards, spokesperson for the policing of the Rugby World Cup, said: "We have been working closely with England Rugby and our Rugby World Cup partners for over a year as part of our planning for this event to make sure fans can enjoy the spectacle of the rugby in a safe and secure environment.
"We would ask fans and visitors to do their bit and take some simple steps to make sure the event remains enjoyable for all who attend."
