Further Six Arrested In No Deal Operation In Birmingham
A further six people have been arrested as part of an ongoing operation targeting suspected drug dealers in Birmingham.
Police carried out a series of dawn raids on Thursday 24 September, arresting a 17-year-old man, two 19-year-olds and three men aged 21, 26 and 47.
All arrests were made on suspicion of conspiracy to supply heroin and crack cocaine.
Codenamed No Deal, the sting forms part of an on-going intelligence-led policing operation sparked by community concerns about drug dealers operating on the city's streets.
"Drug dealing is often an indicator of more serious problems in a neighbourhood," said Chief Inspector Richard Agar from Birmingham Police.
"Dealers attract users to an area and many of these people need to commit crimes to fund their addiction. This means homes are burgled, cars are broken into, handbags snatched and more.
"Nobody has to live like that. No Deal aims to put an end to it, as those who've picked up the phone and shared their concerns with us know."
The latest arrests come the same day unemployed Steven Green, 35, of Yardley Wood Rod in Shirley, Solihull stood before the courts accused of two counts of conspiracy to supply class A drugs.
Following his brief appearance at Birmingham Magistrates Court, Green was remanded into custody.
To date, 31 people have been arrested in operation No Deal, with 25 being charged.
Anyone with information about suspected drug dealing in their neighbourhood should call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 111 555. To speak to police officers instead, call 101.
