13-Year-Old Among Five Arrested Over Stabbing Death
A 13-year-old girl is among five people arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the stabbing of a 42-year-old man.
The teenager is being held in connection with the death of Darren Kelly, of Basildon, Essex, alongside a 15-year-old girl, two boys aged 16 and 17 and a 20-year-old man.
A post-mortem examination found that Mr Kelly died from multiple stab wounds and blood loss.
All five suspects remain in police custody.

Hunt For April Jones Continues
The search for missing five year old April Jones is set to continue. Dyfed-Powys Police have not set an end date for the operation but will scale back the search over Christmas. Superintendent Ian John said police have been hunting for April since she was last seen in Machynlleth, Powys, on 1 October, near her Welsh home.

2,000 extra deaths recorded during August heat wave
The Office of National Statistics (ONS) has reported that, during the recent heat wave, there were more than 2,000 deaths over and above the monthly average. On each of the 10 days from August 4 to August 13, estimated numbers of deaths in England and Wales were above average for those days over the last five years.

Hutton inquiry to go ahead on August 1
The inquiry into the death of MoD weapons expert Dr David Kelly is set to go ahead on August 1. The man leading the inquiry, Lord Hutton, met with Dr Kelly's widow at her home on Saturday morning to agree the scheduling. Lord Hutton said that he had originally intended not to begin proceedings until after Dr Kelly's funeral.

Five-Year-Old Girl And Grandfather Drown In Portugal Sea
A 66-year-old man and his 5-year-old granddaughter have drowned in Portugal after being swept out to sea. Named as Brian O’Dwyer and Lara Lewis, their bodies were recovered by a fisherman in the tourist resort of Nazaré, about 60 miles north of Lisbon, authorities said.
