Child Rescued From Car Crash That Killed Her Father
A five-year-old girl was rescued from a crashed car where she is believed to have been trapped "for some time" with her dead father.
Staffordshire Police said that a black For Fiesta was involved in a collision with a tree on the B5030, in Uttoxeter at about 09:40 on Sunday morning.
A 25-year-old man suffered fatal injuries in the collision. The five-year-old girl, the man's daughter, was taken to the Royal Stoke Hospital for observations and treatment for what were described as minor injuries.
Specially trained family liaison officers are working to support the family at this difficult time.
Officers are keen to speak to any witnesses who may have seen the black Fiesta before the collision. At this early stage of the investigation is it not known at what time the collision occurred.
Anyone with information is urged to call Staffordshire Police on 101.

At approx 6.20pm on Sunday, two cars - a Peugeot 308 and a Volkswagen Polo - were involved in the collision in Ilderton Road, South Bermondsey.

Mid Staffordshire NHS Trust To Be Scrapped
The Mid Staffordshire NHS Trust is to be scrapped, Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt has announced. The trust has been in administration since April when it was condemned by watchdog Monitor as "unsustainable". The Trust's two hospitals are to remain open but the majority of services are to be moved to other facilities.

A woman has died in hospital after falling on a route E3 bus on Chiswick High Road, just after 13:30 on Tuesday, 18 August. The 77-year-old woman was taken to hospital by ambulance, where she was pronounced dead shortly before 17:00.

More than 20 people have been injured, 4 or 5 seriously, in a collision involving three troop carriers on Salisbury Plain. Wiltshire Police were called to the accident at about 18:30 on Wednesday. The cause of the accident is being investigated but it is understood that 4 or 5 people have suffered "life-changing injuries".
