Three 12-Year-Old Boys Seriously Injured By Firework
An investigation has been launched after three 12-year-old boys were injured by a firework in St Helens on Friday, 30 October.
One of the boys suffered minor burns to his hands and face, another substantial burns to his stomach and face and the third substantial burns to his hand and a fractured hand.
All were treated in hospital, where two remain.
Detective Inspector Robbie Moss said: "We are speaking with the injured boys to piece together the full events of what's gone on in Ridgewood Drive, but are appealing for the public's help.
"This incident is yet another unwanted reminder of how dangerous fireworks can be in the wrong hands. While they have suffered burns, these boys could have suffered more serious injuries.
"We are looking at CCTV from the area and conducting house to house enquiries but are appealing for anyone who has any information about this incident to get in contact.
"Our message is simple, enjoy this time of year and the organised displays on offer, but extra officers will continue to be on the streets over the Halloween and Bonfire Night period and anyone under age, caught in possession of fireworks, will be dealt with robustly."
Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact St Helens CID on 0151 777 6049 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
