Two Jailed After Attempt To Smuggle Alcohol and Phones Into Prison

A 27-year-old man and 26-year-old woman have been jailed for trying to smuggle drugs, alcohol, a knife and mobile phones into Wormwood Scrubs.

Karl Jensen, of St. Ervans Road, W10, has been jailed for two and a half years' imprisonment, while Lisa Mary Hutchinson, also of St. Ervans Road, was sentenced to a 12 month community order and is required to attend a community rehabilitation programme.

The couple used a wash bag tied to fishing line to smuggle the items over the prison wall including a McDonald's McMuffin, a plastic Kinder Surprise egg containing five mobile SIM cards, a bottle of vodka and a number of USB chargers.

Man Accused Of Test Drive Car Robbery

A 29-year-old Birmingham man has been accused of robbing a car at knifepoint from a salesman during a test drive.

Wajid Riaz, from Phillip Sidney Road in Sparkhill, appeared before Warley magistrates on Friday, 30 October to hear claims he stole the BMW on 16 June as he was driving it through Cradley Heath. 

He is charged with robbery of a vehicle, two further attempted car thefts − one in Coventry and one in Leicester − and three thefts of cars in Slough, West Mercia and Wednesbury.

He was remanded into prison and is next scheduled to appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court on 22 January next year.

Police Appeal After Drugs Found Hidden Behind Newcastle Pub

Northumbria Police have issued an appeal for information after a quantity of drugs where found in Newcastle city centre.

It is understood that a member of the public reported a suspicious package hidden behind a drain pipe at the rear of the City Vaults pub in the Bigg Market on Sunday afternoon.

Police believe that the pack contains a qunatity of amphetamines.

Prison officers suspended over corruption claims
Fourteen prison officers have been suspended from HMP Pentonville following allegations of corruption. A spokesperson for the Prison Service confirmed that the prison officers had been suspended over allegations which concerned trafficking and "inappropriate relations" with prisoners.

Rogue car clampers will find it harder to operate as a new law requiring all clamping companies to be licensed comes into effect. Private clamping firms will now have to acquire a license, through participation in official training schemes, or run the risk of facing a heavy fine or a prison sentence.

52-Year-Old Man Killed By Stolen Car In East London
A pedestrian has been killed in east London after being hit by a stolen car, police have reported. According to police the 52-year-old man was walking on Forest Drive, close to Manor park station, when he was hit by a blue Ford Focus on Wednesday.

Brixton Drug Gang Get Long Sentences
A gang of criminals who ran a lucrative drug dealing network from a car tyre shop in Brixton were sentenced last week to a total of 81 years in prison. Nine men, who were previously convicted of conspiracy to supply class A drugs, appeared at Kingston Crown Court today to hear their sentences.
