Drugs Gang Sentenced In Swansea

A gang involved in the import and supply of drugs has been sentenced in Swansea.

Mohammed Ahmed, 30, of Buckinghamshire, and Mahad Hassan, 23, of Harrow, were both found guilty of conspiring to supply class A drugs.

Jamies Lee Knox, 23, from Swansea, Aways Osman, 23, from London and Husssain Sabriye, 25, also from London, all admitted consipiracy to supply charges.

Caroline Walton, 26, from Swansea, pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of drugs.

The six offenders were arrested during an operation to tackle the supply of drugs in Swansea in May this year.

Officers searched the Dragon Hotel in the city centre and discovered almost 200 wraps of heroin in the ceiling of one of the booked out rooms.

In addition, 111 wraps of crack cocaine were also discovered along with cash.

Appearing at Swansea Crown Court on 06 November, Ahmed and Hassan were sentenced to six years in prison, Sabriye to five years, Osman to four years, while Knox received a three-year sentence.

Walton was sentenced to nine months, suspended for 18 months.

Constable Jon Davies said: "This was a substantial amount of heroin and crack cocaine which was destined for the streets of Swansea.

"We are committed to tackle the importation and supply of class A drugs in Swansea as we see the misery it causes – not only to drug users but also to their friends and family and the wider community."

23 Charged With Drug Offences Following Raids
More than 20 people have been charged with drug offences following a number of raids carried out in London, Gravesend, Dover and Deal. A total of 23 people were arrested during twenty raids carried out over three days. The suspects, ranging in age from 17 to 52, have all been charged in connection with the supply of class A drugs.

Brixton Drug Gang Get Long Sentences
A gang of criminals who ran a lucrative drug dealing network from a car tyre shop in Brixton were sentenced last week to a total of 81 years in prison. Nine men, who were previously convicted of conspiracy to supply class A drugs, appeared at Kingston Crown Court today to hear their sentences.

£4.5bn Railway Contract To Create 900 Jobs
A £4.5bn contract to build and maintain new inter-city trains will also see the creation of more than 900 new jobs, the Department for Transport has said. Agility Trains - a consortium made up of Japanese firm Hitachi and UK builder John Laing - will build 92 new trains, consisting of 596 new carriages, at a new factory in County Durham.

Man Dies After Falling Off Yacht
A man has died after he fell from a yacht off the coast of South Wales. The man, who had been sailing on a 27-foot sailing sloop called Gun Smoke in the Bristol Channel with another male, died after he was hit by the boom and knocked overboard. Swansea coastguard received a distress call at 3pm on Sunday from the second man.
