Army deal with suspect devices in Bath
British army explosives experts have been called in to deal with a number of suspect packages in the south west of England today.
The cordon remains around the North Parade Road area of Bath while the army unit work with police to remove the packages. A number of buildings have been evacuated as a cautionary measure including Bath Magistrates Court, a local school and a sports centre.
A number of suspicious devices have already been recovered from around Bath Magistrates Court. One controlled explosion has been carried out by the army and others are expected to follow in the next couple of hours.
Roads are still closed in the area but the rail line was re-opened at 9.30am after a search of the line by Avon and Somerset police, British Transport Police and Railtrack.
A 20-year-old man has been arrested in connection with this incident and is currently being questioned by police.

Detectives in Bath has released an image of a car which may be connected to the murder of a 22-year-old man. Ben Foster was found in Ringswell Gardens, Bath on Sunday evening with serious injuries. He was taken to hospital where he died of a stab wound to the body.

A 44-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the discovery of a body near the M5 in 2009. Officers investigating the murder of 25-year-old Melanie Hall arrested the man at his Bath home last week, police have reported.

Police investigating the murder of Melanie Hall have arrested a 39-year-old man. Melanie, 25, from Wiltshire, disappeared in 1996 after a night out at Cadillac's nightclub in Bath. Her remains were found on a slip road near Junction 14 of the M5 in South Gloucestershire last October.

Jewellery 'Solves' M5 Bones Mystery
It has emerged that items of jewellery found with human remains found on a motorway sliproad near Bristol helped identify the body. Police are now sure that the remains are that of Melanie Hall who disappeared 13 years ago. The 25-year-old psychology graduate, from Bradford Leigh, Wiltshire, disappeared in June 1996 after a night out in Bath.
