Leeds suspend Morris pending internal inquiry
The Leeds United footballer Jody Morris has been suspended by his club pending an internal investigation.
Mr Morris was arrested on Tuesday by officers investigating the alleged rape of a 20-year-old woman in Collingwood on Monday. He has since been released on police bail.
In a statement today, Leeds United said that it had had a meeting with Jody Morris and his solicitor this morning.
The statement added: "In accordance with the standard provisions of the player's contract of employment, he [Morris] has been suspended for up to 14 days to enable the club to conduct an internal investigation."
A second man, not involved with Leeds United FC, has also been questioned in relation to the allegations.

£100k Rewards For 1994 Murder
A £100,000 reward is being offered by detectives hunting the killer of Doreen Morris, who was murdered at her home in Holyhead in 1994. Last Thursday marked the sixteenth anniversary of the death of the 64-year-old woman, whose badly burnt remains were discovered at her home Penrhyn Uchaf on Mill Lane.

Visits to UK museums rise by 11m from 2001
More people are taking advantage of free admission to museums and galleries in England, according to new figures out today. Visits have risen by nearly 11 million since the introduction of the free admissions policy in December 2001. There were 5.3 million extra visitors in the first year, and an extra 5.6 million last year.

Premiership footballer Jody Morris, who had been accused of rape, has had the charges against him dropped today. Mr Morris (24), from Wellington Street, Leeds, and Kristofer Dickie (26), from Skelwith Road, in Fulham, London, were both charged with the alleged rape of a 20-year-old woman in Leeds on October 6 2003.
