Service held for Iraq war dead
A service of remembrance for those who served and died in the recent campaign in Iraq has been held at St Paul's Cathedral in the City of London today.
The service was led by the Queen, and included over 900 servicemen and women who served in the Gulf, and some 250 relatives and friends of the 51 soldiers who died during the conflict.
Every unit of the armed forces that served in the Gulf during the initial period of active hostilities was represented at the service, which was led by the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Bishop of London, and the Bishop to the Forces.
The lessons were read by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh and Air Chief Marshal Brian Burridge, who commanded the UK forces during Operation Telic.
After the Service, the Lord Mayor hosted a reception at the Guild Hall.
