Four civilians die in Falluja bombing
Four more civilians have been killed in a suicide bomb attack in Iraq today – less than 36 hours after a series of coordinated strikes killed 34 in Baghdad.
A car was driven close to a police station in Falluja earlier this afternoon before a device was detonated. Reports are yet to be confirmed on the numbers of casualties involved.
Falluja lies around 40 miles west of the Iraqi capital and has been the stage for a number of attacks on US personnel.
The US has previously claimed that an explosion in a Falluja mosque on June 30 – in which nine Iraqis died – was caused by resisters using the building as a bomb-making factory.
Elsewhere, UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan has called yesterday's Baghdad bombings a "crime against humanity".
In reference to the Red Cross headquarters bombing, the Secretary-General spoke with ICRC President Jakob Kellenberger to express his condolences to the families of the four Iraqis in the outrage.
