Vinnie Jones sentenced over 'air rage' incident
Vinnie Jones, the former Wimbledon footballer turned Hollywood film star,
has been sentenced to serve 80 hours community service and pay a £1,100 fine.
Jones was sentenced today after pleading guilty to charges relating to an air rage incident on a flight to Japan last June.
Jones, 38, from Wiggington in Hertfordshire, admitted charges of using threatening, abusive or insulting words and common assault.
A charge of being drunk on board a passenger flight was withdrawn.
In a statement read outside the court today, Jones said that he "regretted the incident deeply".
The former Welsh international football captain, who appeared in the 1998 film 'Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels' and 'Gone In 60 Seconds', was travelling first class on the Virgin Atlantic flight from Heathrow to Tokyo on 1 June when the incident occurred.
Uxbridge Magistrates Court heard today that the actor told a male passenger that he could have him "killed" after he interceded in an altercation between Jones and a female passenger.
The actor is currently appearing in an advertising campaign for a well-known brand of rum.
