Maxine Carr in court over benefit fraud charges
Maxine Carr, the former girlfriend of Soham murderer Ian Huntley, has appeared before Peterborough magistrates court today charged with benefit fraud and lying on job applications.
Carr is accused of fraudulently obtaining more than £3,300 in various bogus benefits claims and lying about her GCSE results in job applications. Carr entered no plea for each of the 20 charges, and spoke only to confirm her name, address and that she understood the charges against her.
If convicted, Carr could face a maximum sentence of 10 years imprisonment.
The accused will reappear before Peterborough Crown Court on April 23.

Maxine Carr is released from prison
Maxine Carr, the former girlfriend of Soham murderer Ian Huntley, has been released from jail after serving a sentence for conspiracy to pervert the course of justice. Carr, 27, was convicted in December of the conspiracy charge after it was found that she had lied to police investigating the murders of Sarah Wells and Jessica Chapman.
