MCB slammed for letter urging Muslims to support police
The Muslim Council of Britain (MCB) has been accused of urging Muslims to commit "apostasy" after calling on all right-thinking members of the faith to support the police in detecting potentially illegal or terrorist activities.
A fundamentalist group based in London called Al-Muhajiroun described the MCB's letter to the faith's clerics yesterday as "naïve" and "negligent".
Al-Muhajiroun dismissed the MCB as "lackeys" of the "fascist Blair regime".
In a statement released today, the group said: "In addition to the above, the call (by the MCB) for Imams and worshippers to do their spying and informing inside Mosques is a violation of the sanctity of the house of Allah (SWT).
The group added that a mosque should be a recruiting ground for Mujahideen, and not an "outpost" for the secret services.
