England fan stabbed to death in Lisbon

A British man has been stabbed to death in Portugal following the England football team's victory over Croatia in the European championships.

The man, who was reportedly in his 20s, was stabbed during a street robbery in Lisbon's Rossio Square at around 5am local time. The identity of the dead man has not yet been released.

Portuguese police have arrested a Ukrainian man in relation to the incident. At this stage there is no suggestion that the stabbing was related to football hooliganism.

It was otherwise a peaceful night in Lisbon and no England fans were arrested in the aftermath of their 4-2 Group B win.
